Rick Gallop weight loss plan

Former president of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Rick Gallop has authored a range of books based on the GI diet.

The GI diet was originally developed by Dr. David J. Jenkins, a professor of nutrition at the University of Toronto, but it is Rick Gallop's books, which have sold over two million copies, that have made it famous around the world.

At the heart of Rick Gallop's books stands the Glycemic Index, a measure of the speed at which carbohydrates break down in the digestive system to form glucose (sugar).

Foods that are quickly digested have a high GI score (sugar is rated as 100), while those that are digested more slowly (for example oatmeal) have a lower GI. The GI diet suggests that you choose carbohydrates that score less than 55 - these are considered to be low GI foods.

The range of titles now available includes:

  • Rick Gallop's Express GI Diet for Busy People
  • GI Diet Pocket Guide
  • Rick Gallop's GI Diet Green-Light Cookbook: 100 Green-Light Healthy Eating Recipes and Lifestyle Tips
  • Living the GI Diet: To Maintain Healthy, Permanent Weight Loss
  • The GI Diet: The Easy, Healthy Way to Permanent Weight Loss
  • The Family GI Diet
This is a healthy way to lose weight and keep it off, an eating plan that you can stick to, rather than a fad diet.
