High fibre diet

Popularized in the 1980s by the F-Plan, High Fibre Diets continue to remain popular.

High Fibre Diet meal plans that include a lot of fibre have a number of advantages:

  • Unlike other carbohydrates, most dietary fibre doesn't provide any calories.
  • High fibre foods generally take longer to chew, so you eat less.
  • Fibre-rich foods swell up in your stomach and can help to fill you up
  • Fibre stays in the stomach for longer, so you'll feel full longer, and be less likely to snack between meals.

Pros : High fibre diet

  • High Fibre Diets are associated with many health benefits including reduced cholesterol and lower blood pressure
  • Eating a High Fibre Diet will encourage you to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Most people will lose weight when they increase the fibre in their diet
