The Pritikin diet is a weight loss product that was created by Nathan Pritikin and is a low-fat, high carbohydrate diet.
It is a weight loss product that is quite in contrast to many of today's popular 'low-carb' approaches to dieting so for those individuals who hate removing their favourite carbohydrate products from their diet, it may just be one they want to consider.
This weight loss product emphasizes the consumption of unprocessed foods that are 'straight from nature' as Nathan puts it. This would include foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes (black beans and pinto beans), whole grains like brown rice, starchy vegetables such as potatoes and yams. These are then supplemented with lean meat sources and seafood to help you reach your protein needs.
One of the key components of this plan that it is heavily emphasized that you are getting in at least 30 minutes of exercise per day. This can include any type of aerobic exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming or riding a bike or else going to other forms of exercise like weight lifting, stretching or yoga. By implementing exercise into the plan you will burn more calories per day and help to speed up the results you see.
